HEATON MERSEY JUNIOR LACROSSE NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 09
Welcome to the new season! It’s nice to have you all back and hope you had a lovely summer. We have a few things to tell you about what has been happening over the summer. Stick-it We once again ran stick-it for 8 weeks during the summer holidays and we very happy to see a lot of you there supporting the club. New Players We are still in great need of new players for all teams; (girls and boys) especially the younger ones so we encourage you all to let your friends know about us and encourage them to come along if they think they may be interested in playing. Coaches This year things have changed a little. U12 Girls Team: Gary Wilson 07919337386 Jane Marshall

U12 Girls - Monday - Heaton Mersey Lacrosse Club 6.30 – 8.00pm U12 Boys – Tuesday - Heaton Mersey Lacrosse Club 5.30pm - 6.45pm U14 and U16 Boys – Tuesday - Priestnall School 7.15 – 8.15pm Fixtures 09/10 The fixtures (as last year) are on the website (http://www.mersey-lax.co.uk/). Please check these and keep checking as they do from time to time change due to games cancelled etc. Players should always meet at the club at 9am each Saturday unless told any different. Kit We have managed to spend all the money we received in a grant last year on equipment (helmets, gloves, pads and a new goalie kit for the girls) for the juniors so everyone should have access to a full kit. Please see your coach if you need anything. Raging Bull The club now has a contract with Raging Bull who can supply clothing for Heaton Mersey Lacrosse. These include polo shirts, t shirts, sweatshirts, jogging pants, etc all with our logo and name on. To purchase these you will need to order via the website (available from mid October) at (http://www.mersey-lax.co.uk/) Also just available is an under layer garment (playerlayer) worn beneath kit, the technology allows moisture to be taken away from the skin and regulate the body temperature. It protects the skin from cold and has an anti-bacterial coating to prevent odour. This can also be purchased by the website: www.playerlayer.com/teams/the-heatons-sports-club FOOD You may or may not know the club has a new Steward - Dave Richards and from the start of the season he has agreed to have on sale (through the new window on ground floor) tea/coffee, bacon sandwiches and sweets. Any income generated goes directly to the club; therefore we would appreciate your support in making this a success. As a good will gesture Dave has also agreed to supply all the junior lacrosse teams (home and away) with home made soup which will be free of charge to players but minimal cost to the Lacrosse section. Fundraising We are hoping to do another bag packing session at Somerfield before Christmas so will be looking for volunteers from all teams if possible. The money we raised last year came in very useful and was used for printing flyers and posters; buying trophies, buying soup and lots of other things we just would not have had the money for. Fun Day
We are happy to report that the Fun Day was a great success and the club are looking into putting on another event in the future months. We would like to say a big thank you to all of you who donated cakes and tombola item to the stalls. Thank you so much for your support. |
