Heaton Mersey U19's v Timperley U19's
Heaton Mersey U19's v Timperley U19's
Things were changed. The team was cut down from 14 to 13 outfield players, reminded of some rule definitions and lectured on handling the referees. The long sticks were rearranged and reminded that they were called defenders for a reason, and Ryan Hunns was brought into the attack. Mike Connor started his first game at this level, behind Mersey's swiss cheese defence of last week and against the league favourites playing in front of a home crowd. No pressure. Without a regular centre Timperley had the majority of the ball in the first half. But with the defence, defending and Mike playing very well, we were in the game. With some confidence restored and keeping our discipline we slowly took over the game, sadly too late to win. The last two goals were the pick, a scanner lazer into the top corner and Ryan Hunns dodging from behind and finishing with a good shot. A far better performance by us all and in an unprecedented fit of self indulgence the coaches awarded the man of the match award to themselves for making a decent purse out of last week's sow's ear.
